Seraphim Proudleduck contest - Free Guidelines
Seraphim Proudleduck. What does it mean? Well, its a made up, nonsense term that a great many blog authors, like myself are competing for, all trying to become ranked number one in Google for.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is something that all blog owners, either secretly or openely do, in an effort to get their blog ranked higher then their competitors
So, what exactly does SEO have to do with accounting? Well, not a great deal on the face of it, but even still I have to enter my blog into this new Seraphim Proudleduck II contest to see just how my blog does rank against others. There can be no sterner test, I believe.
When you create a blog, you want it to be found in the search engines, and in submitting my blog to an SEO contest I get to find out just how well my blog is ranked compared to other blog owners, in a way that won’t hurt anyone else’s rankings for a serious search term.
I believe a blog will win this contest, and not any other kind of webpage, by the very nature that blogs are already very optimised for search engines. I would love to receive the kind of notoriety the contest promoter suggests the winner will receive.
If you have a blog, you could do worse then stick some adverts on the page, join this contest and watch the amount of visitors to your site increase day after day, as the contest gathers pace. The competition ends on March 2010 so there is a long time to go yet.
What are the aims of this SEO contest? quite simply I believe that the owner, Shaun O’Connor of the Salmonbones website has a desire to make amends for the previous contest of 2004 going severely wrong. The previous Seraphim Proudleduck contest had 4 prizes which were to be fronted by a company in Michigan. When this company pulled out, their were no prizes on offer. This time, no prizes are on offer from the start, but you are lured in by the rather vague prospect of “notoriety” - read the apology and you will see a promise of offline promotion for the contest. Radio, Newspaper, TV. I am intrigued to know how this will be achieved, as no other SEO contest has ever managed this.
So here is my own seraphim proudleduck entry.

Why not join the Seraphim Proudleduck contest yourself? If you do, then get in touch with me and I’ll exchange links.
The previous winner was Philipp Lenssen who is not entering this 2nd incarnation of the contest, and here is how he got others to link to his blog
Do you have a friend who might want to link to this blog using the words “Seraphim Proudleduck”? You will get a single extra ticket* per friend who emails me telling me you referred him to this contest. (Your friend needs to include your name and email.)
As stated before, in the lottery on January 1st, 2005, I will award the full prize money of $1792 to a random webmaster who linked to me and informed me via email. (Of course the money will only be awarded if this blog wins the challenge.) Every single ticket increases the chance to win, and naturally, I will not hand out any tickets to myself.
